Sustainability

Sustainability is paramount at Rituals. We are a Certified B Corporation™. This certificate means that for-profit companies use the power of business to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy. They meet the high verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

Part of our sustainability efforts is our Net Zero commitment. We are exploring our path to Net Zero, reducing the intensity of our emissions by 50%, by 2030, reaching Net-Zero by 2050*. Learn more about our path here

Next to focusing on reduction, we decided to launch our 10% Profit Pledge, meaning that from 2025 onwards we commit to using 10% of our net profit of the previous year, to support causes that contribute to improving the wellbeing of people and planet. For example, Rituals chose to partner with Sacred Forests to help preserve The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, home to some of the world’s most lush and biodiverse rainforests on earth. Rituals has also committed to helping build the mental resilience of young children, partnering up with the Super Chill Foundation.

Read more about our 10% Profit Pledge here.

*Our near-term target climate commitment is a 50% GHG emissions intensity reduction by 2030, versus our 2021 figures.  Scope 3 emissions. This is a reduction per unit value added, meaning per euro of gross profit.

Are your products tested on animals?

Rituals Cosmetics is against animal testing and has been since we were founded in 2000. We have never tested any of our individual ingredients or finished products on animals and we do not work with suppliers that do so. Instead, we enlist the help of enthusiastic volunteers, independent dermatologists and safety institutions to ensure our products fully meet the required regulations.
Yes, Rituals is a Certified B Corporation™. This certificate means that for-profit companies use the power of business to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy. They meet the high verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

At Rituals, we care for the community and the world around us. Receiving the B Corp™ status in 2022 was just the beginning. We are continuously working to make positive changes across all areas of our business, from better recyclable packaging and energy savings to diversity & inclusion and learning & development.

Most of our products are vegan-friendly as they have not been developed with any animal-derived ingredients. The full ingredient list can be found on the packaging of each product as well as on our website. Please do not hesitate to contact us to ask if a specific product or ingredient is vegan-friendly. We will be happy to check it for you.
We believe that in order to create a meaningful contribution to society, our organisation should reflect the diversity of that society by actively practising - not just preaching – inclusivity. Therefore, we aim to represent different groups and individuals with unique, visible or invisible, conditions, strengths and challenges. We also take pride in creating a safe culture in which all employees feel engaged, appreciated, and have access to the same opportunities.

In everything we do, we consider and integrate diversity, equity and inclusion. With this holistic approach, we ensure it is in the DNA of our organisation, our culture, policies, practices and objectives. These four pillars guide us along the way:

1. Society
We aim to make a meaningful contribution to society, whether this is through our philosophy of wellbeing for all, our support for equal opportunities or our sustainability efforts. Therefore, we collaborate with, and sponsor, many foundations, such as War Child, Tiny Miracles and Super Chill.

2. People
We've created a welcoming workspace to ensure everyone feels valued and at home. To further these efforts, we have established our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) Ambassadors group and collaborate closely with employee resource groups that unite people throughout the organisation. A great example we are proud of is GLOW, our internal employee resources group raising awareness within and outside the LGBTQIA+ community.

3. Product
Our product development is informed by the expertise of our internal DE&I ambassadors, complemented by insights from a broad range of consumers. Our products are created and tested based on their input, ensuring we leave no stone unturned.

4. Brand
We cultivate a brand philosophy that engages with different people and identities, regardless of age, cultural background, gender, or any other traits - visible or hidden.

Do you want to learn more about our vision? Please contact our Customer Relations team for more information.
We combine the best of nature and advanced science in the development of our products. We use as many ingredients of natural origin as possible, and use alternatives that have been developed in a lab when it is necessary for product safety, when it is better for the environment, or for properties that cannot be derived from nature.
We feel it as our responsibility to use our business also as a force for good. We want to make meaningful impact by contributing to causes that improve the wellbeing of people and planet.

Rituals has been a proud supporter of the Tiny Miracles Foundation since 2011. We are inspired by their holistic approach to breaking the poverty cycle by creating fully self-supporting communities within 10 years. Each year we co-produce millions of our beloved goodie bags, beach bags and other products, providing life-changing income, healthcare and education for communities in Mumbai, India.

Rituals is also a partner of the Super Chill foundation. Super Chill is an app for children that uses games to teach them how to self-regulate their emotions in a positive way, providing tailored support for parents and caregivers. Super Chill aspires to build a mentally resilient generation across Europe, making their emotionally educational games and routines an integral part of raising children.
